The Ambush on Ilana Rostovic was a failed assassination attempt on Ilana Rostovic orchestrated by the Creature Commandos, who sent Nina Mazursky to try to kill her underwater.

After the Creature Commandos killed a guard watching a tower and used the cameras to find an entrance, they soon realized they were surrounded by guards and that the garden wall was the least protected. After entering, the Commandos hid behind trees, watching the guards surround the lake to protect Princess Ilana Rostovic, who was swimming. Bride devised a plan, which involved having Nina enter the pond and stab her, as the only way to reach her was underwater. Mazursky initially rejected the idea, but Bride and Phosphorus convinced her that she was a monster like them, giving her the courage to complete the mission.[3]

Nina Mazursky bravely dived into the pond with a knife in her hand, but as she was about to ambush the princess, however, as Nina approached Rostovic from behind, Weasel became unable to remain hidden, leaping out of the bushes and diving into the pond in an effort to warn the princess, completely revealing his hiding place. Weasel nearly drowned, and Phosphorus furiously tried to grab his arm, but Weasel bit him, causing him to scream in pain and throw him aside, burning his jaw.

Ilana Rostovic surfaced and noticed Mazursky with the knife. She tried to stab her, but Rostovic managed to dodge the attack by pulling her back into the depths. Despite Nina's efforts to kill her, Rostovic blocked her face and managed to snatch the knife away, using it to stab her repeatedly in cold blood, killing her and leaving the Commandos stunned. Bride panicked for Nina and rushed into the water in concern, only to collapse in shock upon seeing her body rising to the surface, screaming in despair.

The Commandos were then surrounded by guards, and Doctor Phosphorus was forced to raise his arms in surrender, before Rostovic slowly emerged from the water, covered in Nina's blood and looking distraught. Sergei arrived to give him a comlink. Amanda Waller wanted to warn him that he had made a mistake, having found enough evidence to believe Circe had lied to them. However, Bride, devastated by Nina Mazursky's death, destroyed the comlink.[3]

While the team recovered in Poko Castle, Weasel received praise from the Amethyst Knights for saving the Princess, with Sergei promising to build a monument in her honor, much to the disdain of Doctor Phosphorus, who continued to blame Weasel for Nina's death and the failure of the mission.

Despite the mission's end, Bride pieced together the case and realized that Circe's vision was true and that Ilana Rostovic was in fact a power-hungry individual intent on world conquest. Not wanting to allow Nina's sacrifice to be in vain, Bride killed Rostovic, claiming not to save the world, but to avenge her friend. Bride then returned to her teammates and asked them to leave the castle quickly. Bride wept for her friend while Doctor Phosphorus tried to comfort her.[3]
