The Attack at Withering Heights Nursing Home was an attack executed by Vigilante during his search to find the Controller and "rescue" Peacemaker.
Background[]
Vigilante is told by Peacemaker that the Controller kidnapped him
- "'I've been kidnapped by the Controller! And he has an army of evil robots in disguise, so please don't try to rescue me! Oh no! Here he comes-- Oh fuck! Aahhh!"

When Adrian Chase went to visit Chris Smith's Trailer to hang out, Chase noticed he was missing, so he called him, worried that he was in danger. Smith played along and pretended to be in trouble, so Chase asked if Withers' meeting with Scarapelli meant they were planning their next attack on him, to which Smith confirmed. Chase then assumed there was a mastermind behind the kidnapping and connected the "Con" clue a henchman had given him, pinning the Controller as the kidnapper. Peacemaker confirmed all of Chase's claims and warned him that the Controller had an entire army of evil robots in disguise before ending the call.[1]

Vigilante infiltrates Withering Heights Nursing Home

Chase, concerned for his friend's safety, began his search for the Controller to rescue Peacemaker, so he infiltrated the Withering Heights Nursing Home, attacked a nursing home guard, and used a knife to tear off his face, vowing to find the Controller's robot army in Evergreen at any cost to rescue Peacemaker.[1] At the time of the attack, Withers was in the pines receiving physical therapy and soon learned of the incident. Despite having lost face, the guard survived and was rushed to intensive care to have him bandaged, while Withers scheduled a meeting with Scarapelli in the morning.[2]

Scarapelli and Withers forge an alliance
Saber helped the guard walk to the meeting, where he encouraged him to reveal to Scarapelli what Vigilante had sworn to, leaving him horrified when the guard discovered his bandages. Scarapelli asked Withers what she was suggesting, and after Cannon whispered that she believed he had tricked her, he claimed he knew nothing about the Controller, proposing they forge an alliance. Withers accepted with a handshake upon discovering their mutual hatred for Vigilante, both pledging to implement a "scorched earth" policy.[2]
