Biography
Capture of Doctor Phosphorus
Batman captures Doctor Phosphorus
- "What?"
- ―Doctor Phosphorus[src]
Following the numerous murders of the sadistic and radioactive metahuman criminal Alex Sartorius, known as Doctor Phosphorus, Batman used his abilities to track him down, finding Phosphorus celebrating with his gang at the Ice Lounge, where he turned off the lights. Overwhelmed, Phosphorus looked over, noticing Batman's presence, who then confronted and defeated him, resulting in Phosphorus's incarceration at Belle Reve Correctional Center, putting an end to his criminal empire.[2]
Publicly Criticized
During his vigilante career, Batman fought numerous enemies that became his renowned roster of supervillains, although he was widely criticized by several people due to his moral code of refraining from killing Gotham City's criminals, whom he constantly sent to prison, but they would eventually escape prison and continue killing people, causing his role as Batman to become controversial, being mainly judged by Peacemaker.[3]

Trivia
- In the comics, Batman is the superhero protector of Gotham City, a man dressed as a bat who operates as a non-powered vigilante fighting crime, usually at night. In his secret identity, he assumes the alias Bruce Wayne, the son of the murdered Thomas and Martha Wayne, and is a billionaire industrialist and notorious playboy.
Behind the Scenes
- Bruce Wayne/Batman in the DC Universe is the fifteenth live-action incarnation of the character, following previous incarnations portrayed by Lewis Wilson, Robert Lowery, Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer/George Clooney, Christian Bale, David Mazouz, Ben Affleck, Iain Glen, Warren Christie, Kevin Conroy, Robert Pattinson, and David Miller.
- James Gunn offered The Batman director Matt Reeves the option to feature the incarnation played by Robert Pattinson in the DC Universe. Reeves ultimately rejected the offer, preferring The Batman franchise be standalone.[4]
- Gunn later reaffirmed this, saying “I’ve contemplated it, yeah. I contemplate everything. I talk about everything.”[5]
- James Gunn intentionally chose not to focus on Batman's origin story due to it being commonly known.[6]
- James Gunn mentioned that Creature Commandos episode Priyatel Skelet, originally showed Batman in a more visible suit, but it was scrapped because he didn't want to commit to an as-yet-undecided design, saying “When they first showed the episode to me, there was a lot more Batman. And I said, ‘I’m not ready to commit to that... more silhouette!’”[7]
