On January 31, 2023, James Gunn announced The Brave and the Bold, as part of the DC Universe's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters reveal, featuring Batman and his son, Damian Wayne.[3]
On June 7, 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Andy Muschietti is the studio's top choice to direct the film, although a script has not been written and there is no commitment from the filmmaker until after the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike has been resolved.[4]
On June 15, 2023, Variety reported that Andy Muschietti had been hired to direct the film.[1]
