The Battle at Poko Castle was an attack by Circe and the Sons of Themyscira at Poko Castle in an attempt to kill Ilana Rostovic.
Background[]

Circe mobilizes the Sons of Themyscira
Hoping to prevent Ilana Rostovic from destroying the world,[3] the sorceress Circe mobilized a group of men named the Sons of Themyscira, who believed it to be sexist that only women were allowed on the island. Circe promised the Sons of Themyscira that she would take them to Themyscira in exchange for their help deposing Rostovic. They successfully infiltrated Pokolistan, attracting the attention of the United States, which was in the process of forming an alliance with Pokolistan in exchange for its natural resources. A.R.G.U.S. mobilized a group of non-human prisoners into what they referred to as the Creature Commandos and sent them to Pokolistan to protect Rostovic.

Bride of Frankenstein and Nina Mazursky are captured as a distraction
Once Bride of Frankenstein realized where they were going,[1] she saw an opportunity to retrieve a necklace that had been gifted to her by Victor Frankenstein, which she had left behind when forced to flee Eric Frankenstein due to his murder of Victor.[4] The first night they arrived, Nina Mazursky caught Bride attempting to sneak out and went with her, hoping to convince her to return. Instead, they both went to Frankenstein Manor,[1] which was observed by Tanner. Tanner reported back to Circe, who decided to mobilize the Sons in an attack. The Sons captured Bride and Mazursky,[4] leaving them alive to be discovered by the Creature Commandos so that they could lure away Rostovic's protectors.[5]
Attack[]
The Sons of Themyscira reached Poko Castle before Circe, leading to a large firefight between them and the Amethyst Knights. A knight reached Rostovic's bedroom and woke her, attempting to get her to safety, but was killed by Tanner. Tanner and the Son that was with him then began to chase Rostovic, causing her to realize how large the conflict was. Tanner reported on Rostovic's fleeing, leading her to get captured by two other Sons. However, one of them proposed they sexually assault Rostovic before killing her, giving Rostovic the chance to scratch his face. This forced the Son to drop her, giving her the chance to run away and lock herself in her bedroom.

The Creature Commandos take cover
Meanwhile, the Creature Commandos had figured out the Sons' plan and returned to the castle, running over a Son who was preparing to throw a grenade. The Commandos began firing at the Sons. One Son fired at Doctor Phosphorus, who used his radiation to disintegrate the bullets and punched a hole through the Son's stomach, burning him alive. Meanwhile, a Knight retrieved Nina Mazursky's air suit so that Mazursky could help in the fight, but was promptly killed. Mazursky joined the fight and the Commandos all took cover, and G.I. Robot asked if the Sons were Nazis. Flag answered affirmatively, prompting G.I. Robot to levitate the upper half of his body into the air and gleefully kill as many Sons as he could before getting destroyed by Circe's magic.

Inside the castle, Rostovic retrieved a gun from her armoire and and used it to kill the two Sons who broke into her bedroom, attempting to escape through the window. Circe then appeared and attacked Rostovic with her magic, preparing to kill her as Rostovic pleaded for her life. However, Weasel then appeared and distracted Circe, pushing her back down to the ground outside. He brutally tore through her, preventing her from getting access to her hands in order to use her magic. Flag watched in horror as Phosphorus joined, burning her face with his radiation while Mazursky comforted a dying G.I. Robot. Once the Commandos had apprehended Circe, she righted herself, declaring that they had doomed the world.[5]
Aftermath[]

The Creature Commandos are assigned to kill Ilana Rostovic
Circe was brought to Belle Reve Correctional Center, where she reasserted her belief that she was attempting to save the world. She showed Amanda Waller the future she had seen in which Ilana Rostovic leads an army to destroy Earth, upsetting Waller. Waller confirmed with Aisla MacPherson that the vision was likely to be true and decided to send the Creature Commandos back to Pokolistan to kill Rostovic despite Rick Flag, Sr.'s pleas that Rostovic would not destroy the world. Flag was taken off the assignment of leading the Creature Commandos and tried to call and warn Rostovic, but was hung up on due to a language barrier. Eric Frankenstein then attacked flag and encouraged him to save Rostovic. Meanwhile, Bride of Frankenstein was tasked with leading the Commandos to kill Rostovic, causing debate among the team about whether they would.[3]
