"I think you overestimate the importance of Jarhanpur to me, Superman. That was just a bonus. I'm not killing you so the Boravian military conflict can proceed. I created the Boravian military conflict so I'd have an excuse to kill you! Once you involved yourself, I knew I could easily get our government's support in nullifying you."
"Why?"
"Because you're destroying us!"
Lex Luthor and Superman[src]

The Boravian-Jarhanpurian War was a series of invasions in Jarhanpur by the neighboring country of Boravia, secretly manufactured by Lex Luthor as a means of undermining the public's faith in Superman. However, the invasion was successfully defeated by the Jarhanpur civillans with the help of the LordTech's Justice Gang.

Background[]

"Today, the Secretary of Defense said he was gonna look into your actions in Boravia. That's funny?"
"It's not unfunny, it's just... uh...c'mon. My actions? I stopped a war."
"Maybe."
"Uh, not "maybe", I did."
Lois Lane and Superman[src]

In 2023, Lex Luthor approached President Vasil Ghurkos of Boravia and offered military support and advanced weaponry for the planned invasion of Jarhanpur in exchange for half of its territory, which Lex intended to name "Luthoria." In truth, Luthor wanted to undermine the public's faith in Superman by making him appear to interfere in international conflicts so he would have an excuse to kill Superman.[1]

War[]

Defense of Jarhanpur[]

"Well, Boravia invaded Jarhanpur and I showed up and told them that wasn't right."
"And?"
"And smashed some tanks and things. And a couple of planes and some other stuff. There were no casualties and no significant injuries."
Clark Kent and Lois Lane[src]

As Boravian troops invaded Jarhanpur, Superman stopped them, disabling tanks and aircrafts without casualties. Superman then confronted President Vasil Ghurkos directly and flew him to the desert, pinning him against a cactus and warning him never to attempt to invade Jarhanpur again. Public opinion had already started to turn against Superman for involving himself in a geopolitical conflict and taking a side.[1]

Lex Luthor and Hammer of Boravia[src]

Three weeks later, Lex Luthor escalated his plan by sending Ultraman-a flawed clone of Superman-disguised as a fictional terrorist named the Hammer of Boravia. Donning a mechanized armor, Ultraman began wreaking havoc across Metropolis pretending to be retribution for Superman's earlier intervention in Boravia. Superman arrived to confront the Hammer of Boravia, but thanks to Luthor’s feeding him real-time combat instructions, the armored villain easily outmaneuvered his adversary. Unable to defend himself against an enemy who could anticipate his every move, Superman was swiftly overpowered for the first time in his superhero career, and forced to retreat to the Fortress of Solitude to recover.

After healing from his injuries, Superman returned to Metropolis. In his absence, the Hammer mocked Superman's retreat before the public and used his laser beams to attack a building. From his control room, Luthor alerted his henchman of Superman's return. The Hammer of Boravia immediately dashed towards his enemy and seized him by the neck before punching him. What followed was another brutal one-sided beating. With a relentless combos, the Hammer of Boravia gave Superman no opening to counterattack, eventually slamming him into the ground. As a crowd gathered, the Hammer delivered a warning about Superman's prior intervention in Boravia, and a civilian helped the weakened hero, but Superman-too exhausted and injured to continue-watched as his foe departed marking another another victory for Lex Luthor.[1]

After his first defeat, Superman returned to his Fortress of Solitude, in order to recover from his injuries. Lex Luthor was able to track his location and sent the Engineer to find the fortress, but the Fortress retreated back into the ice. Luthor, the Engineer and Ultraman gained entry into the fortress, with Ultraman's status as a genetic clone and the Superman Robots begun playing Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van's message to Superman, expecting to see their master. When they were instead met by Luthor and his assistants, they attacked the Engineer who easily defeated them due to her nanite-based abilities.

Luthor walked directly to the console of the fortress, and Krypto the Superdog attacked Ultraman until the Engineer used her nanite abilites to cover the dogs face and render it immobile. After the battle, Luthor had the Engineer bond with the console and retrieve Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van's message, allowing her to repair the message, and listen to the damaged second half of it. Learning that Superman' parents had sent him to rule over the planet, Luthor took the message, using it to urn the public against Superman, kidnapping Krypto before leaving.[1]

Superman and Mister Terrific[src]

Before Luthor broke into the Fortress of Solitude to retrieve information capable of destroy Superman's public image, he had Otis Berg and Sydney Happersen go near Metropolis harbor to unleash a small fire-breathing kaiju to distract Superman. As the monster grew colossal and began attacking the city, Superman engaged it in battle, punching it repeatedly while preventing any civilians or animals from being injured. The Justice Gang joined the battle under the public's acclaims, with Guy Gardner evacuating the area before he and Hawkgirl attacked the Kaiju, while Mister Terrific used his T-Spheres to analyze and uncover any weak spot.

However, Mister Terrific told Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner to target the Kaiju's eyes where he was the most sensitive-the winged warrior using her mace on the right eye while the Green Lantern created a jackhammer on the left one. Taking the opportunity of the creature's opened mouth, Mister Terrific sent three T-Spheres down its throat and detonated them in his stomach, killing the Kaiju, with its body being moved by Superman on a safe area.[1]

"Of course the side of those rights don't apply to extraterrestrial organisms. Therefore, at this point, Superman, you don't have any rights to read."
Superman and Rick Flag, Sr.[src]

Lex Luthor translated the second half of the message to the news, revealing to Superman and the world that the Kryptonian has been sent here to rule Earth as its sole leader and to repopulate the planet. Superman isolated himself inside a Stagg Industries and was soon joined by the Justice Gang, who gave them privacy with an energy field around the place and asked about the message's veracity. Superman revealed he never heard the second half before. Realizing Luthor broke into the Fortress of Solitude to steal the record and kidnap Krypto, he latter confronted him in his office without succession.

Kal-El was imprisoned inside the Pocket Universe, where he was violently mistreated by several Raptor soldiers while Metamorpho turned his hadn't into Kryptonite to weaken Superman as Lex had held his baby son Joey captive.[1]

"When creating a pocket universe, if you're just one picometer off, you will have a black hole where Earth used to be. And every time you enter or exit, you risk tearing a hole in the fabric of reality."
"You're kidding."
"It's the type of reckless science Lex Luthor specializes in."
Mister Terrific and Lois Lane[src]

In an effort to find Superman, Lois Lane and Mister Terrific tracked his signal to the PlanetWatch campsite, where they were confronted by Raptors who gave them a warning to leave. Mister Terrific used his T-Spheres to swiftly neutralize them and proceeded toward the dimensional portal.

During the chase, Superman and Joey Mason were knocked into a hazardous anti-proton river, while Metamorpho used acid to eliminate the Raptors around him. Superman managed to overcome the remaining soldiers with Krypto's help and ensure Mason's safety.[1]

Mister Terrific and Superman[src]

The dimensional rift, caused by the pocket dimension, tore through Metropolis the next day, prompting Superman to arrive and assist its citizens while Lex Luthor deployed PlanetWatch to confront him, observing the battle unfold at the LordTech-owned baseball field. Luthor issued commands to PlanetWatch as Superman tried to appeal to the morals of Ultraman and the Engineer, Luthor ordering the latter to fill Superman's lungs with nanites and suffocate him. Watching the attempted execution, Luthor smiled at the hero's imminent death and instructed his Boravian technician to contact Vasil Ghurkos and initiate the second invasion of Jarhanpur.

Luthor then ordered the Engineer to fully engulf Superman in nanites as he flew toward the stratosphere, only to plummet back down motionless. Luthor warned the Engineer to recover the nanites before impact, but she was rendered unconscious when Superman crashed into Metropolis' sewers. Concerned, but undeterred, Lex refocused his attention on the confrontation, surrounding the area with cameras to monitor Superman and Ultraman. Through a speaker embedded in Ultraman's chest, Luthor revealed that Ultraman was a clone created from Superman's DNA designed to defeat him. Ultraman relentlessly beat Superman who was whistling for Krypto who disabled the surveillance systems, allowing him to defeat a directionless Ultraman and the Raptors.[1]

While Green Lantern and Metamorpho were destroying the armed forces, Hawkgirl flew to Ghurkos' palace, knocked out his guards as well as associates, and held him above the city and dropped him to his death though a building.[1]

While Lex Luthor berated Superman and his alien heritage, Superman replied that he was just as human as anyone else and that he should embrace his humanity as his greatest strength as Superman had. Luthor dismissed the speech and vowed to kill him yet, but was tackled and mauled by Krypto before he could finish his sentence. With a broken arm, Luthor rose and turned toward the control room's monitors where all broadcasting live news reports exposed his crimes, including his underground arrangements with Vasil Ghurkos, condemning him as a traitor, with the reports supported by evidence leaked to the Daily Planet by Eve Teschmacher who had been taking pictures. With the invasion successfully circumvented, Luthor was arrested and taken to the Belle Reve Correctional Center.[1]
