Background[]
- "Dear Daddy, I love you more than anything in the world, and I am so grateful for everything you've done for me. But I do not belong, nor have I ever in the world of humans. I want to be free and I want to free you of the burden that I know I am. And I've always been. I love you, Daddy. You could not have been a better father."
- ―Nina Mazursky's Letter to Edward Mazursky[src]

Nina Mazursky leaves the human world
After years of homeschooling, Edward Mazursky enrolled his daughter Nina at the Emberton Prep to help her socialize. Despite her efforts to fit into school, Nina was heavily bullied by her appearance, often called a frog. Once while walking down the hallways, two students threatened her to make frog noises, making her cry. On one occasion, her classmates bullied her by placing a frog in her locker; unable to stand the bullying, Nina decided to run away from home and live in isolation, and before disappearing, Nina left a letter for her father thanking him for everything he had done for her, but claiming not fitting in the human world. Edward Mazursky found the letter when he returned from work, crying inconsolably for her in the middle of the rain.[1]

Over the next three years, rumors of a “Star City Sea Creature” began to spread in the media. One night, Mazursky sat on a rock on the shore of Star City to eat fish; however, a citizen spotted her and took a picture of her, and she, frightened, hid in the water. The photographer sent the footage to the media, and authorities called in animal control experts from Bludhaven and Metropolis to find her.

Despite Mazursky's attempts to escape, she was captured, and while she was dragged away, she was approached by her father, who had seen the news, trying to fight his way through the crowd. Edward Mazursky stepped over the officers to tell his daughter that he saw her as a gift, not a burden, before being shot by a trigger-happy officer, leaving Nina horrified and only able to scream in helplessness as she watched her father being killed while being arrested.[1]
Aftermath[]

Nina Mazursky imprisoned at the Belle Reve Correctional Center
- "I'm killing you because you took the life of the only friend I have. And the only one of us with an ounce of kindness in her veins."
- ―Bride of Frankenstein to Ilana Rostovic[src]
Because of her appearance, Nina Mazursky was wrongfully convicted and imprisoned in the non-human division of Belle Reve Correctional Center. Eventually, Mazursky found herself in a sad state when she was forced by A.R.G.U.S. Director Amanda Waller to join a task force for a mission in Pokolistan to protect Ilana Rostovic from Circe. During the mission, Mazursky formed a bond of friendship with G.I. Robot[2] and Bride, however the team was ordered to turn against Rostovic and kill her in an attempt to prevent her world conquest, and when Mazursky was encouraged by her teammates to kill her underwater, Rostovic noticed the attack and stabbed Mazursky to death.
Reluctant to allow Nina's sacrifice to be in vain, Bride killed Ilana Rostovic when she had the chance despite the mission being aborted, claiming not to save the world, but to avenge her friend.[1]
