Cheers to the Tin Man is the third episode of the first season of Creature Commandos. The episode was written by James Gunn, and it released on Max on December 12, 2024.

Synopsis[]

As the Creature Commandos attempt to save The Bride and Nina, GI Robot relives his glory days -- and finally gets his wish.

Plot[]

G.I. Robot celebrates the victory with Easy Company

In a flashback, G.I. Robot participates to his first mission with the Easy Company, led by Sergeant Rock, in occupied Europe, during World War II. During an ambush, the automaton successfully kills all of the Nazis troops surrounding his group. They later share beers at a bar, cheering for their robot companion. Upon arriving at Frankenstein Manor, Rick Flag Sr. and the Commandos are surprised to find the Bride and Nina but no sign of Circe or the Sons of Themyscira. After reprimanding his teammates, Flag realizes that the enemy used this as a distraction to launch an attack against the princess.

G.I. Robot massacres the Hub City National Socialists Club

In another flashback, twenty years after the war, G.I. Robot is invited on a advertisement talk show where he is presented as a war hero. However, the robot's obsessive mission to find and to kill Nazis make the audience and the host uncomfortable. Finding no use for him since the end of the war, the US army lends G.I. to scientist Will Magnus to help him in his research. During their time in Magnus' workshop, G.I. Robot expresses his wish to meet with his companions again and to kill Nazis with them. Decades later, in the 1990s, G.I. Robot is retrieved in a Hub City shop by war artefacts collector Sam Fitzgibbon, who welcomes him at his home and builds a friendship with him. When Sam brings G.I. to a local National Socialist Club, the latter realizes he is surrounded by Neo-Nazis and massacres the entire participants, including Fitzgibbon. He is arrested and sentenced to life at Belle Reve.

In the present, the Creature Commandos and Alexi arrive in the middle of an assault against the Poko Castle. Surrounded by the enemy, Rick Flag Sr. convinces G.I. Robot that the enemies were Nazis. leading the android to use his full arsenal against the Sons of Themyscira. Full of joy and relieving his best memories (mostly with the Easy Company), G.I. fails to notice Circe who puts an end to his rampage by blowing him up in front of his teammates' shocked face. The Amazonian sorceress then attacks Ilana. Before she can kills the princess, she is violently mauled and mutilated by Weasel and Doctor Phosphorus. Nina retrieves G.I.'s damaged head who happily celebrates his wish fulfilled to have killed Nazis with her, before finally fading away. A defeated Circe furiously confronts the team, stating they have "doomed the world".
