In 1934, Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson founded National Allied Publications, a company originally focused on publishing pulp magazines. The company's focus shifted to superhero comics in 1938 when Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created the superhero Superman. Their success led to the creation of other iconic heroes such as Batman and Wonder Woman, and over the decades DC grew to be a shared universe with many different heroes and villains.
