- "One of the things that’s very important for me in all of these movies and TV series is that the director’s vision and the vision of the writers and all of the creators is unique, and something special."
- ―James Gunn[src]
The DC Universe (DCU) is a multimedia franchise created by DC Studios that consists of a shared interconnected universe based on DC Comics, sharing continuity, characters, and narrative elements across film, television, video games, animation and comics. It is a soft reboot of the DC Extended Universe, with certain continuity elements, content and actors carrying over from the previous franchise, while telling an original overarching storyline spanning across media.
The DCU officially launched its first major storyline, Chapter One: Gods and Monsters with the release of the animated series Creature Commandos in 2024. The first film to be produced by DC Studios as part of the DCU, Superman, will be released in 2025.[1][2]
