Dogs (Canis lupus familiaris, or Canis familiaris) are a race of sentient mammals native to Earth and Krypton. Dogs, while commonly feral in wildlife, are one of the most wildly domesticated fauna on the planet, with humans frequently adopting them as pets and domestic companions.
History[]
In 1831, Bogdana lived with a dog named Ivan in the countryside, until she found a creature named Eric Frankenstein passed out on the riverbank and rescued him, becoming companions. However, one night Frankenstein killed Bogdana without Ivan's knowledge, taking the dog with him.[2]
By 2023, a tobacco advertising poster used Dr. Wesley Von Spears' dog as a mascot, labeling their product "exquisite."[2]
Superman took Krypto to Centennial Park to play with other dogs, and despite reminding him to play responsibly, Krypto used his superpowers to his advantage by playing fetch, and Superman met Curt and his dog Otto. Suddenly a fire truck nearly crashed into them, howling the dogs as Superman avoided a tragic accident, asking Krypto to help him control the dogs while he tended to a fire at S.T.A.R. Labs and then assisting him there.
Krypto used his powers to repair the pen and flew over the park to find the lost dogs and guide them back to their owners, as well as saving Rocky the dog from a tall rock. Krypto assisted Superman during the fire at S.T.A.R. Labs, rescuing Matty the dog, who was trapped, while Kal-El rescued the scientists. An hour later, Krypto and Superman took the scientist and his dog, Matty, to the park to hang out.[3]

- In the comics, dogs are often presented as companions and sidekicks of superheroes, civilians and criminals. Notable examples are Krypto the Superdog for Superman, Ace the Bat-Hound for Batman, Aquadog for Aquaman, and Dawg for the alien bounty hunter Lobo.
