- "Nazis won World War II here. I've been reading all the history books on the bookshelf. You don't want to be a minority here."
- ―Judomaster to Leota Adebayo[src]
Earth-2,[1] also called Earth-X,[2] is a universe in the Multiverse where the Nazis won World War II. In this parallel universe Blue Dragon, Captain Triumph and Peacemaker are this world's greatest heroes famously known as the Top Trio.
Chris Smith from Earth-1 found a door inside the Quantum Unfolding Chamber that led to this universe, where he discovered that the alternate versions of his father and brother were still alive. After accidentally killing his alternate self and feeling depressed on Earth-1, Smith decided to move to Earth-2 universe with Eagly, seeking a better life, and impersonating his alternate self, until he was discovered and forced to escape.
History[]
World War II[]
- "If he's so awesome, why did he move to a Nazi world?"
"I didn't say he was smart. I'm sure he didn't even notice. Sad part is, I'm not so sure this Nazi world is this different from our world we wish it was." - ―Judomaster and Leota Adebayo[src]
In a context of economic and social crisis, the Nazi Party, led by Adolf Hitler gained popularity in Germany. The Nazis initiated World War II and won the war, conquering the United States of America, where they built concentration camps for non-white people, fostered racial segregation, treating non-white citizens as inferior, and replaced the stars on the American flag with the Nazi swastika. The Nazis corrupted the police system in the process, and all voices opposed to the regime were suppressed.
In response to the oppressive Nazi regime in the United States, the Sons of Liberty emerged within the regime to unite against oppression and combat the corrupt government.[3] operating in various cities, including Evergreen and Washington, D.C. The group carried out a series of coordinated attacks,[4] which were publicly labeled as acts of terrorism by The Evergreen Sentinel Newspaper.[5]

Evergreen's local superhero, Blue Dragon, couldn't publicly express his disdain for the injustices committed by the regime and dedicated himself to fighting monsters and common criminals, as it was the only thing he could control. He trained his two sons, Keith and Chris, to become vigilantes and heroes like himself, and they took the names Captain Triumph and Peacemaker. At the age of twelve, Chris Smith explored the Quantum Unfolding Chamber in his home, crossing through the Candyland door to grab giant peppermint sticks. Thirty Imps entered Earth-2 and chased Smith throughout his residence, prompting his family to come to his rescue, though the remains of the creatures were scattered all over the house. As they became the protectors of Evergreen, The Evergreen Sentinel published newspapers praising the Top Trio's superheroic work.[5]

Eventually, the alternate Chris visited Earth-2 again, where he reunited with his brother, who asked if he could be in Blüdhaven. Auggie welcomed him into the mansion, believing him to be his son, and they chatted. Chris Smith soon left Blüdhaven and confronted the alternate Chris at the mansion, believing him to be a shapeshifter. The alternate Chris Smith quickly returned to the chamber, where he pursued him, only to be accidentally killed.[5] Later, Auggie and Keith discovered Chris's disappearance after finding a trail of blood leading from a bookshelf in the mansion.[4]

After defeating his enemies, Smith deactivated the bomb, while Captain Triumph helped destroy the Sons' escape helicopter.[4]

Since Peacemaker had gone to live on Earth-2, abandoning his friends, they traveled to the dimension to find him and bring him back, entering through the Smith Residence. However, upon noticing Keith Smith's presence, the 11th Street Kids hid in the room while Harcourt spoke with him, convincing her to go to A.R.G.U.S. Headquarters to see Peacemaker. When she found Smith and talked to him to convince him to return, Emilia Harcourt noted that she hadn't seen any people of color within this alternate universe since her arrival, finding the swastikas on the United States flags.
Vigilante decided to search for his alternate self, while Leota Adebayo went outside to explore the dimension, she was reprimanded by several enraged citizens who were shocked to see a black person that got out. Trivia[]
- In the comics, all of DC's Golden Age super-heroes were retroactively allocated to Earth-Two before Crisis on Infinite Earths. At the close of the Crisis, the surviving parallel Earths were merged together, and a new shared continuity was established, colloquially known as New Earth.
- This version of Earth-2 is primarily inspired by Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle, a story where the Nazis won World War II. The DC Comics equivalent of an earth where the Nazis won the war is Earth-X.[8]
