As Scarapelli wanted to leave his crime in Evergreen, he and Withers organized a car giveaway at the Evergreen Docks shipping and storage facility, setting up his henchmen to attend to the people. However, the celebration was interrupted when they were ambushed by Vigilante, who launched a rocket in an attempt to annihilate the Controller's army, catching Withers and Scarapelli off guard, with Withers believing Scarapelli had set her up with the “scorched earth” plan, but Scarapelli was distraught at not being able to give up the crime.
When Vigilante grabbed a machine gun and began firing uncontrollably, Cannon and Saber had to step in to stop him, and after Saber shot Chase to take him by surprise, they both ran to attack him, but Vigilante hit them in the face with the machine gun, knocking them to the ground. Chase threatened them with Saber's revolver, and Cannon pretended to fall under his control, only to stab him with his sai, showing off to Saber. However, Vigilante managed to escape wounded, with Saber shocked that the stab didn't kill him.[1]
