Adrian Chase asked to return home
- "I wanna fuck your brains out, Adrian."
"My brains? Ha. What would you do with those? Just stuff 'em in your mouth like if you're gonna eat 'em, but then, like, pretend to puke them out again?" - ―Theresa and Adrian Chase[src]
Adrian Chase began working at Fennel Fields as a busboy to hide his vigilante identity, believing it was a deceptive job that no one would suspect. One night while cleaning tables at Fennel Fields, Chase was interrupted by his co-worker Theresa, who flirted with him. However, Chase mistook her comment, believing she meant she wanted to have sex with his brain, which left Teresa confused and led Doug to ask Chase to return home.[1]
Major investors in the county were hosting a catering event at Fennel Fields, as Scarapelli planned to have Evergreen's cultural elite fund his film. Employees were informed of the event, asking them to wear scrubs and arrive early to have everything ready for the night of the event, however, Adrian Chase was neither registered to attend nor informed.[2]

Adrian Chase believes he is turning into a robot
Vigilante attempted to invade Evergreen Docks to wipe out the Controller's army, but was stabbed by Cannon, forcing him to flee and rush to Fennel Fields to disinfect himself. Chase realized that the army couldn't be hiding among the trucks, and as he walked to the sink, he removed his sai from his body. Chase surmised that the Controller must have been more sophisticated to defeat Smith, so he deduced that he hid his army in a place Smith wouldn't suspect, and started to believe the wound was turning him into a robot.[3]

Chase put a charger up his butt to prove he wasn't a machine and slept on the floor, being found by Taylor, and Chase was then awakened by the taunts of his co-workers. Chase asked Theresa why everyone was early, and she explained the big catering event for investors, and tried to flirt with Adrian, but he became concerned that the Controller planned to turn them all into cyborgs, convincing himself to stop the meeting. Once the catering event began, the co-workers catered to the investors by serving them banquets, and Scarapelli further announced his intention to retire from the mob. However, Vigilante threw a bodyguard out the window, catching them off guard and warning the investors that Scarapelli was working for the Controller.

Scarapelli knocks out Vigilante
Vigilante was suddenly attacked by Withers who lunged at him, annoyed that Saber and Cannon were distracted in the back alley. Withers took the opportunity to ask Vigilante who had fooled him about the Controller, discovering that he had convinced himself by hearing one of her henchmen sigh “Con-Con”, pushing him into an X-ray booth to make him realize they weren't robots, then pushing him to the ground, so Scarapelli knocked him out. With Vigilante collapsed, Withers tried to drive a stiletto heel into his eye socket, but Scarapelli stopped her as they were forced to flee from the police. When Vigilante awoke, Theresa helped him escape from the police through the back alley, where he grabbed a condom off the ground, seeing it as a possible clue that it meant “Con-Con.”[2]
