- "I know you won't kill me. You are too delicate and weak like Superman."
"Ha! I'm not like Superman." - ―Vasil Ghurkos and Hawkgirl[src]
Kendra Saunders, also known as Hawkgirl, is a winged metahuman warrior turned superhero. She is the reincarnation of a Thanagarian and a member of the Justice Gang. After Hawkgirl and the team discovered Superman's supposed mission to conquer Earth, they began to distrust him. However, after seeing the unwavering support the Jarhanpur people gave him, she put aside her mistrust to help prevent Boravia from conquering Jarhanpur and killing their tyrannical ruler Vasil Ghurkos while her teammates dispatched the troops, while Superman stopped Metropolis from being destroyed and exposing Lex Luthor's elaborate conspiracy.

Attack on Metropolis[]

Hawkgirl arrives with the Justice Gang.
- "My Knee! Guy, help!"
"I made a giant oven met."
"Good for you asshole! I'm getting blinked to death!" - ―Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner[src]
When a Kaiju started running wild in Metropolis, Hawkgirl and the rest of the Justice Gang arrived to assist Superman. Using her battle cry, she did arial attacks on the beast, swinging her mace at the creature's durable skin. Getting the order by Mister Terrific to attack its eyes, Hawkgirl fiercely attacked its right, only for her knee to get stuck in the eyelid.
She called for Green Lantern's assistance, only to be annoyed by his childish antics. She proceeded to hit the beast's eye with her mace, while Lantern attacked the other, until Terrific used his T-Spheres to go inside the beast's stomach and destroy its intestines. The group was then approached by their fans, where Hawkgirl quickly dismissed Justice Gang as their official title when Lantern referred to them as such.[2]
Confronting Superman[]
- "Guy, relax. Was the message real or not?"
- ―Hawkgirl to Guy Gardner and Superman[src]
Their victory over the Kaiju was cut short, however, as a news report from the The Sphere News revealed the rest of the damaged message from Superman's parents that Lex Luthor recovered from the Fortress of Solitude: he was meant to rule over them. Hawkgirl and the others followed the distraught Superman into a Stagg Industries building to talk privately over this revelation, Guy Gardner placing an energy field over the glass to give them privacy from the outraged people.
Hawkgirl then broke up a fight between Superman and Gardner when the latter started accusing Superman of being a threat to the Earth. She then calmly asked if the message was true, to which he confirmed the first half, while the rest was damaged when he arrived on Earth. When Mister Terrific shot down any hope that the rest of the message was doctored, Hawkgirl questioned where Luthor could have gotten it from in the first place, only for Superman to take off to the Fortress.[2]
Attack on the Justice Gang[]
Later that day, Hawkgirl and the Justice Gang battled a Fifth-Dimensional Imp attacking Metropolis and quickly defeated it.[2]

Invasion of Jarhanpur[]
Hawkgirl returned to her apartment, where after taking a shower, she sadly witnessed the news of the invasion of Jarhanpur by the Boravian army on TV. Seeing how the inhabitants called Superman for help, she felt inspired and flew directly to Jarhanpur to join the fight and defend the country. She reunited there with Guy Gardner and their new ally Metamorpho, and fought against the Boravian armed forces.
While her allies defended the Jarhanpurians, Hawkgirl broke into the presidential castle and fended off Vasil Ghurkos' bodyguards with her mace before grabbing the president and flying with him out of the window. The ruler of Boravian mocked her, believing she would not be able to kill him, comparing her to Superman and his noble ideals. The Thanagarian warrior only responded that she was not like Superman before dropping the president to his death.
With Ghurkos dead and his army defeated, Hawkgirl and her teammates were celebrated by the Jarhanpurians. She congratulated Metamorpho on his abilities and asked Gardner to let him join the team. Reluctant at first due to his physical appearance, the Green Lantern welcomed him when he complimented the name "Justice Gang," much to Hawkgirl's disbelief.[2]
