The Invasion of Pokolistan was a mission undertaken by Circe, accompanied by the manipulated Sons of Themyscira, to launch an attack on the nation of Pokolistan in order to assassinate Princess Ilana Rostovic and prevent her from destroying the world in accordance with her vision of an apocalyptic future. In response, Director Amanda Waller deployed the Creature Commandos to defend Rostovic before confronting Circe.

Circe had a vision of a future in which Ilana Rostovic became the Queen of Pokolistan and went on to brutally conquer the planet, mass killing people.[3] Meanwhile, Ilana Rostovic began negotiations with the United States to allow the country access to Pokolistan's untapped oil reserves, acting as regent of the country due to her mother's deteriorating health. Circe recruited the Sons of Themyscira, who believed it to be sexist that only women were allowed on Themyscira, to help her invade the country and kill the Princess before she could conquer the world.[1]

Attack on the Pokolistani Gas Station[]
GBS News reports the attack on the gas station by the Sons of Themyscira
- "The battalion, calling themselves the Sons of Themyscira, violently crossed the border into Pokolistan. The Sons are said to be working at the behest of the rogue Amazonian and reputed sorceress, Circe."

As Circe and the Sons of Themyscira managed to cross the border of Pokolistan, they came across a gas station where they would begin to unleash chaos as Circe used her magic to attack and the Sons used a rocket launcher to blow up the gas station. A GBS News reporter who was at the place in the moment of the attack managed to report the event and interviewed several of the Sons, who accused Themyscira of sexism for only allowing women and said that it was unfair that only them got to see the waterfalls on the island.[1]
Creature Commandos' Protection[]

- "After your decades in the military, General Flag, I think you'd understand that true friendship is built on petroleum deposits. Especially unmined ones in a backward-ass country that's never taken advantage of their natural resources. Princess Ilana Rostovic, the heir apparent to Pokolistan, is already negotiating with the US for that oil. And if she's overthrown by some nutjob in a witch's hat, all bets are off. We need to help Rostovic."

Director Amanda Waller and General Rick Flag, Sr. watched the GBS News report of the attack from Belle Reve Correctional Center. Knowing that if Ilana Rostovic was overthrown by Circe the United States would not get the valuable oil of Pokolistan, Waller decided to assemble a new task force consisting entirely of non-human prisoners to help Rostovic: Bride of Frankenstein, Doctor Phosphorus, G.I. Robot, Weasel and Nina Mazursky; and assigned Flag, Sr. to lead the team, calling them Task Force M, also known as the Creature Commandos.
The Commandos arrive to Pokolistan
With the Commandos assembled, the Sheba flew the team to Pokolistan where they would land at the Pokolistan Airport and be welcomed by the Amethyst Knights and one in particular named Alexi. The Commandos and Knights would then travel to Poko Castle in armored tanks through the city. Upon arrival, the Commandos were greeted by Rostovic who had prepared a banquet for them and allowed them to stay at the castle. While the rest of the Commandos were distracted, Rostovic attempted to seduce their leader, Flag, Sr. but failed after stripping in front of him.[1]
Looking for a Necklace[]
Bride of Frankenstein and Nina Mazursky looking for the Tourmaline Necklace

"A tourmaline necklace. It should be here somewhere." - ―Nina Mazursky and the Bride of Frankenstein[src]
At night, believing everyone to be asleep, the Bride of Frankenstein attempted to escape Poko Castle to search for a necklace she had lost so long ago in her former home, Frankenstein Manor. However, the Bride was discovered by Nina Mazursky, who escaped with her out of the castle and took a cab to search for her necklace in the manor. Unbeknownst to either of them, Tanner and another Son of Themyscira were following them and reported their adress to Circe and the rest of the Sons to intercept them.[4]
Attack on Frankenstein Manor[]

After finding her Tourmaline Necklace, the Bride of Frankenstein and Nina Mazursky became aware of the arrival of Circe and the Sons of Themyscira who began to attack them. Bride carried Mazursky from her waist and began to flee Frankenstein Manor while at the same time attacking and killing several of the Sons, throwing CRITICALSCEPTICFACTSOVERFEELINGS 91 through a roof and killing several of the Sons with a machine gun. Rick Flag, Sr., after having a duel with Doctor Phosphorus for the Nano-Bomb Remote Detonator and having sex with Ilana Rostovic, would be warned by Alexi of Bride and Mazursky's disappearance. Flag, Sr. would lead the Creature Commandos out of Poko Castle to search for Bride and Mazursky, boarding an armored tank driven by Alexi.

Bride and Circe continued to fight at the manor while Mazursky fled the scene to try and warn Flag, Sr. of what was happening when she was intercepted by another group of the Sons who began to chase her and shot at her tank, causing her to fall to the ground. Back on the manor, Circe slowly began to take advantage over Bride, turning her arms into balloons and brutally beating her before pushing her off the balcony. With Bride and Nina incapacitated, the Sons knocked them out,[4] and took them hostage to waste the time of the arriving Commandos while they went to the castle to kill Rostovic. Bride was gagged and tied to a chair and Mazursky was locked in a bathtub on the floor above.[5]
Battle at Poko Castle[]

As the Sons of Themyscira arrived at Poko Castle and began a battle against the Amethyst Knights, the Creature Commandos broke into Frankenstein Manor where they found the Bride of Frankenstein and Nina Mazursky as hostage. Upon being freed by Doctor Phosphorus and G.I. Robot respectively, Rick Flag, Sr. realized that Circe had led them to the manor on purpose so they would be away from the castle so Circe and the Sons could get to Ilana Rostovic. With all of the Commandos boarding the armored tank, they soon arrived at the castle where they began killing all the Sons in sight.

Meanwhile, after being awakened by one of the Knights to escape, Rostovic was pursued by several of the Sons, including Tanner, who lost her when Rostovic locked herself in a room. While the rest of the Commandos fought the Sons, Mazursky was given a her tank by one of the Knights which was inmediately after killed by a bullet while G.I. Robot reminisced about his past. Asking Flag Sr. if the Sons were Nazis, he was convinced by him that they in fact were Nazis. G.I. Robot would begin to shoot at all the Sons in sight and eventually activated his thrusters to gain height and changed his cannons to triple cannons with which he began to fire while spinning, laughing maniacally as he killed several Sons before being destroyed by Circe, who attacked him with a magic blast from behind.
Circe is defeated by the Commandos
With G.I. Robot destroyed, Circe flew to the room where Rostovic had locked herself in. Rostovic, having killed the Sons who had been pursuing her with a flintlock pistol, was attacked from behind by Circe who fired a magic blast into the room. Trapping her, Circe was about to kill Rostovic when Weasel leapt at her, falling out of the castle where Weasel began to maul her. Unable to defend herself, Phosphorus burned Circe's face as she screamed in pain while Flag, Sr. and the Bride looked at the scene. Meanwhile, Mazursky went to retrieve G.I. Robot's severed head, which told her that they had killed Nazis together, before shutting down. With Circe defeated, she told the Commandos that they didn't know what they had just done and that they had doomed the world.[5]

With Circe in custody, the Creature Commandos would take her back to the United States on the Sheba. Upon their return, the Commandos returned to Belle Reve Correctional Center while Circe was taken to a room to be interrogated by Amanda Waller. When asked what she was doing in Pokolistan, Circe replied that she was trying to kill Princess Ilana Rostovic to save the world, telling Waller that she could show her the future. Upon entering the same room, Circe projected to Waller a vision of an apocalyptic future where Ilana Rostovic along with Gorilla Grodd and their forces had conquered the world after having killed several heroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman among others.

Horrified by what she had seen, Waller called Professor Aisla MacPherson to confirm the veracity of Circe's vision. Shortly after, MacPherson confirmed that Circe was in fact, clairvoyant, which made Waller order John Economos to gather the Commandos to return to Pokolistan and kill Rostovic to prevent her and her forces from conquering the world. However, Rick Flag, Sr. opposed to this after having gotten to know Rostovic intimately, and ultimately resigned from being the leader of the Commandos, so the Bride of Frankenstein was appointed as the new leader of the team. The Commandos boarded the Sheba to return to Pokolistan again and complete their new mission.[3]
