Project Starfish[]
The Corto Maltese authorities made a secret deal with the United States government to transport a starfish alien creature to Jotunheim for illegal experiments under the name "Project Starfish".[1] As part of a operation orchestrated by Amanda Waller, Task Force X was ordered to infiltrate Jotunheim and delete all records involving the association between the United States and Corto Maltese. However, Colonel Rick Flag, Jr. decided to rebel against Waller, taking the disc containing the videos of the experiments, but his attempt was prevented by Peacemaker, who preferred to preserve the peace rather than cause an international incident. This sparked a fierce duel between the two, in which Peacemaker took a shard of ceramic and stabbed Flag's heart, killing him.[2] Jotunheim began to collapse, causing Starro to be released and attack the nation until it was ultimately killed by the squad.[1]

- In the comics, Jotunheim is a fortress built in the mountainous region south of Qurac by the Nazi Party during World War II. It was the base of the terrorist organization known as Jihad, and was destroyed by a nuclear explosion caused by Rick Flag, killing himself and everyone inside.
