Hadley "Rip" Jagger, codenamed Judomaster, is a master martial artist bodyguard and a former enemy of the 11th Street Kids. He was originally the personal bodyguard and enforcer for Senator Royland Goff, who was possessed by the Queen of the alien race known as the Butterflies. However, the Butterfly Invasion was prevented by the Peacemaker, to Jagger's frustration since he believed in the alien cause. Afterwards, he was recruited by A.R.G.U.S. in their mission against Chris Smith and the Quantum Unfolding Chamber.
Judomaster followed Peacemaker to Earth-2, where he was forced to temporarily put his disdain for Smith aside to escape the Nazi-ruled USA and befriended Leota Adebayo. Later, upon seeing that Rick Flag Sr. was taking his thirst for revenge to the extreme by allying himself with Lex Luthor and creating the Salvation Prison for metahumans, Jagger left A.R.G.U.S. and ended his feud with the 11th Street Kids to join the Checkmate agency.

Early Life[]

Rip Jagger was trained in martial arts by a blind monk in the Himalayas. Because of his great skills, he adopted the moniker of "Judomaster" and became a freelancer.[1] Jagger also once killed four people in a swimming pool using a telephone wire.[2]
Butterfly Invasion[]
Alliance with the Butterflies[]
Judomaster met the Butterflies, who convinced him to support their cause of world domination, as he believed that they would save the planet.[3] Serving as a bodyguard for the "Goff family" along with a partner, Judomaster arrived at their residence one night. When his fellow bodyguard asked him to share his Cheetos, Judomaster refused. When the Goff family came under sniper fire, Judomaster was able to track down the assassins, surprising Vigilante and Peacemaker, and sparking a fight where he knocked out Emilia Harcourt and took Chase and Smith hostage.[4]
Kidnapping of Peacemaker and Vigilante[]

With Smith tied up, Judomaster engaged in a profanity-laced argument with Smith and violently threw Cheetos at him, injuring him in the face. Judomaster and Peacemaker ended up talking about Wookiees with teeth in their butts. When Judomaster left, leaving Vigilante and Peacemaker with Royland Goff, John Economos surprised him by defeating him and taking him captive. However, the next day, Judomaster escaped from custody at Henenlotter Video, encountering Peacemaker, whom he attacked in a fight that Smith was about to win, until Leota Adebayo shot the martial artist upon seeing Peacemaker in trouble.[4]
Showdown at Overview Lofts Suites[]

Judomaster escaped again, and while stranded, he was harassed by some men who mocked his height by performing a Lucky Charms dance. However, Judomaster took the opportunity to attack them, causing them difficulty breathing and returning the mocking dance. Judomaster then took Emilia Harcourt and Leota Adebayo by surprise, yelling "Ding dong, bitches" and fighting Harcourt, where Adebayo ended up knocking him out with a stun gun.[5]
Battle at Coverdale Ranch[]
Judomaster broke free again and visited the Coverdale Ranch, where he discovered that Cow and Butterflies had been killed by the 11th Street Kids, causing him to become deeply saddened.[3]

Jagger reunites with John Economos

A.R.G.U.S. would recruit Judomaster for an operation against Chris Smith due to his Quantum Unfolding Chamber being a risk to society after the battle of Metropolis. Judomaster's recruitment happened due to his history with Smith and his overall strength and fighting capabilities. He would join the team, much to John Economos' dismay. He would enter a van with multiple agents while eating Flaming Hot Cheetos.[6]
Jagger insults Red St. Wild
Along the way, Judomaster was eating his Cheetos in front of John Economos, glaring at him, reminiscing about the time he ran into him and hit him with the wrench, which Economos thought was a great moment. Red butted in by asking if he hit the "Chinese", causing Judomaster to correct him by saying he was Vietnamese, to which Economos said he wished he had killed him, seeing Judomaster's defeat as a personal victory. Judomaster assumed he would flaunt his dead body in front of his family, which Economos thought was very serious. Economos got into an argument with Langston Fleury, which led to Red St. Wild berating Economos for hitting the "Chinese", to which Judomaster insulted him, and Sasha Bordeaux shut them all up.[7]

The A.R.G.U.S. patrol arrived at Chris Smith's house to arrest him and hijack the interdimensional device, where Judomaster and Kline were ordered to enter from behind. Judomaster saw Peacemaker escape with the device into the woods, so Judomaster followed him, performing acrobatic flips to roll faster until he caught up with him in front of a tree, where he grabbed a branch and kicked Smith, shouting his battle cry. Judomaster made Smith drop the device, and Smith, very upset, threw some cookies at him, infuriating him. Judomaster launched himself to kick Smith, managing to kick him against a tree, but Peacemaker ended up grabbing him and slamming him against a rock, not understanding why he was chasing him.
Jagger heads out onto the road
Judomaster claimed to be unwilling to let Smith endanger the world again, freeing himself to continue fighting Smith, climbing a tree and then punching Peacemaker in the face, but Peacemaker ended up throwing him against a tree. Smith tried to escape but Jagger followed him, grabbing on top of him in an attempt to choke him, but Smith took advantage of being on a hill and threw himself down, causing them to crash into a tree and then Smith to fall on top of him, leaving him unconscious. Judomaster then woke up frustrated by Smith's escape and ran out onto the road, not noticing that Smith was just passing by in his car.[7]

To capture Peacemaker, A.R.G.U.S. ambushed the vigilante using Emilia Harcourt as decoy at the Kupperberg Park. Harcourt sat on a bench waiting for Smith, while Judomaster stood on a balcony preparing his sniper rifle. When Peacemaker arrived, each agent took up position, and Judomaster, codenamed "Fuschia," claimed to be ready with his sights set, finding the target in the northwest scope, and receiving orders from Rick Flag, Sr. as soon as he had the opportunity.
Jagger is told not to shoot
Judomaster grew frustrated because Smith was moving around too much, and when he sat with Emilia Harcourt, they switched places, frustrating Jagger's aim. The agents showed up in front of Smith, forcing him to run, so Jagger was given the order to fire, accidentally shooting Kline. Despite having Smith in his sights, Jagger was told not to shoot as they had a new plan and another shot could kill Kline, which resulted in Harcourt knocking out Smith.[1]
Following Peacemaker[]

Judomaster waited outside A.R.G.U.S. Headquarters in his car eating Cheetos while Peacemaker was tortured by Rick Flag, Sr., whom he saw leave accompanied by John Economos all beaten up, being taken away by Adrian Chase and Leota Adebayo in a car. Just when Jagger ran out of Cheetos, Flag contacted him via the comlink to ask if Smith was leaving, to which Jagger prepared to follow him, being warned to be careful.
Judomaster threatens to cut off Langston Fleury's penis
Jagger saw him arrive at a cabin, so he stayed behind to watch out for him, hidden in the woods until nightfall, when Langston Fleury contacted him, who warned him about Smith's location, which Fleaury claimed to already know from the drones, calling him "Dunkin' Munchkins". Judomaster became angry at the nickname, to which Fleury claimed not to understand how small diminutives offend dwarves, and Judomaster stated that they were used for children, clarifying that if he ever called him that again he would rip his dick off, however Fleury was sarcastic with him and ended the call, angering him.
Jagger prepares to cross the dimensional portal
Judomaster then walked to the window and watched Peacemaker activate the interdimensional portal to cross over to the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, approaching the door and calling out to Fleury to warn him that Smith had entered, but seeing as the portal was about to close, Jagger quickly scribbled on a piece of paper Smith left behind, clarifying his whereabouts and proceeding to cross over.[1]

Upon arriving in the dimension, Jagger found several houses whose owners had left on a trip, choosing the house with the most food. To learn about his whereabouts, Jagger read the house's history books, discovering that the Nazis had won World War II. In the morning, Judomaster noticed Leota Adebayo being chased by the supremacist neighbors into a pool, so he cut a wire and offered his hand to help her out. With a battle cry, Judomaster placed the wires in the water to electrocute the supremacists, killing them in the process. Judomaster went to help Adebayo get up from the floor, and they hurried to escape through the neighborhood.[2]

"I didn't say he was smart. I'm sure he didn't even notice. Sad part is, I'm not so sure this Nazi world is this different from our world we wish it was." - ―Judomaster and Leota Adebayo[src]
Judomaster led Leota Adebayo to the home where he had taken refuge, explaining how he had found the house after looking for Peacemaker. While bringing out some snacks, Jagger asked Adebayo if she knew the code to get out, but she didn't know it even though her teammates did. When Adebayo asked why he saved her, Jagger stated that it didn't seem like a fair fight, handing her a towel to dry off, expressing that he had never killed so many people in a pool, which sparked Adebayo's curiosity to ask how many people he had killed in a pool before, to which he said 4. Judomaster reminded Adebayo when she electrocuted him, causing her to feel remorseful. As they sat down to talk, Adebayo stated that she was confused, to which Judomaster explained that the Nazis won in that dimension, confessing that Cheetos in that reality weren't that good.

Adebayo was shocked and asked what they should do, to which Judomaster explained that they should wait until nightfall to find their companions and sneak into the mansion to return to their dimension. While they waited, Judomaster suggested Adebayo play a crossword game, which was called Scrobble in that dimension. While playing, Adebayo told Jagger that she and his wife, Keeya, had broken up because she wanted to reopen a pet shop in Gotham City while she preferred to stay in Evergreen, a clash that made her feel suffocated. However, Jagger made her realize that Leota didn't accept Keeya's dream of opening the pet shop, making her realize that they were both suffocating each other.
Jagger reproaches Chris Smith
Adebayo didn't understand how Smith believed the dimension he came to live in was so perfect, but Jagger, resentful of Smith, said it wasn't surprising, comparing his musical taste to Sid's from Toy Story, which made Adebayo laugh. Leota confessed to having thought the same thing when he met him, but that Smith introduced her to Hanoi Rocks, among many other artists, whom he ended up falling in love with, and that she just had to open his mind, ignoring the cheesy parts, to realize that Smith was a good person, as well as being best friends. Jagger questioned whether it was so incredible why he came to the Nazi world, to which Adebayo jokingly denied that he was clever and that he probably didn't realize it, but also didn't believe that the alternate world was so different from theirs, and lamenting having electrocuted him, but Jagger showed her that he had beaten her in the game.
Jagger argues with Adrian Chase
Judomaster then went to look out the window to see that it had gotten dark, preparing with Adebayo to go to the Smith Residence, staying behind the bushes to supervise when the Evergreen Police Department came to question Auggie Smith for homicides. Suddenly, the two were found by Vigilante and his alternate self, which surprised them, but Chase was annoyed with Adebayo for meeting with Jagger, expressing his hatred for him. The alternate Chase mocked the symbol on his suit that looked like ejaculation, but Adebayo told them to be quiet, telling them that Judomaster was an ally. The alternate Vigilante suggested entering the house by killing the police officers, which Chase and Jagger agreed with, but Adebayo suggested sneaking in first.[2]
Back to Earth-1[]
Jagger sees Chris Smith cry for his alternate brother

As the team were being interrogated by Auggie and Keith Smith, Judomaster and the others ambushed the house, which led to Auggie's murder, and in their haste to escape, Judomaster and Adebayo dragged John Economos who had been tied to a chair, just before being assaulted by the Police Department, which the Vigilantes took charge of fighting. However, as they were about to leave, Keith Smith, in revenge for the murder of his father, attacked Peacemaker in an attempt to kill him, being stopped by Judomaster and the others, until Smith in anguish screamed to stop, seeing how he cried for his alternate brother.
Jagger confirms Peacemaker's claims
Jagger and the others then hurried to escape and left through the basement of the Vigilante house, where A.R.G.U.S. arrested them while Judomaster returned to his colleagues from the agency. Peacemaker handed over the interdimensional device without resistance, and so that his friends would not be charged, he said that they had come to convince him to hand it over, which Jagger confirmed, observing Smith's arrest.[2]
Searching for Salvation[]

Now in possession of the device, A.R.G.U.S. began to send teams of agents to investigate the QUC and the different dimensions that it gave access to. Wearing a hazmat suit over his green suit, Judomaster tested different doors, walking through those that were unlocked and testing their environment, unsure as to what Flag was looking for. During one of the expeditions, he opened a door facing a black hole and was almost pulled into its gravitational pull. He was kept save by the cable connecting him to his team. With the numerous near-death experiences he had encountered in the QUC, in addition to his superiors' disregard, he ended up disillusioned by A.R.G.U.S.'s mission and his sought fulfillment elsewhere.[8]
Joining Checkmate[]

Ultimately leaving A.R.G.U.S., Judomaster, with his colleagues Langston Fleury and Sasha Bordeaux, made amends with his former foes, the 11th Street Kids, and joined the agency they had created; Checkmate. Despite being their ally and all of them knowing his true identity, he remained costumed.[8]

Judomaster is a snarky and quick-witted man who holds a grudge. He verbally sparred with John Economos, taunting him about their violent history and insulting him for his weight. Despite his childish behavior, he is also a man with some measure of integrity; he joined the Butterflies of his own volition, having sided with their beliefs, and following their defeat at the hands of the 11th Street Kids he vowed to stop Peacemaker from further sabotaging the world.
Jagger is vindictive, whenever he was forced to work with the 11th Street Kids he would frequently remind and shame them for all the times they physically injured them. He also attacked two jocks for making fun of his short height, mockingly doing the leprechaun dance they taunted him with before as he brutalized them.
Despite his negative traits, Jagger is also honorable. When he was trapped in Earth-2 he was forced to temporarily put aside his hatred of the 11th Street Kids and cooperate with them to escape. He also saved Adebayo from an angry mob of racists, when asked about it he stated that it "didn't seem like a fair fight". During this time, Jagger maintained his poor opinion on Peacemaker and highlighted him wanting to live in a Nazi-ruled world as proof of his views towards Smith. Adebayo insisted to Jagger that Smith isn't a bad person but rather a broken struggling one down on his luck in life, and that he is a good person underneath his jerk attitude. Jagger later witnessed this when Smith begged everyone to spare Keith's life despite him trying to kill them. Later, when Smith decided to surrender himself to A.R.G.U.S. to protect his friends, Jagger decided to backup his coverup story.
Eventually Judomaster decided to follow Adebayo's advice regarding Peacemaker. Having become disillusioned at A.R.G.U.S. due to Rick Flag, Sr.'s abuse of power, Jagger decided to end his animosity with the 11th Street Kids, who in turn openly welcomed him to join their newly formed Checkmate agency.

- Master Martial Artist: Judomaster is an extremely skilled and formidable martial artist and hand-to-hand combatant. His fighting style seems to be comprised of Judo, Karate, Capoeira, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, and Jujutsu. He served as a senator's bodyguard, being capable of fighting off as well as defeating Peacemaker, Vigilante, and Emilia Harcourt simultaneously. Despite his short height, Judomaster is a dangerous adversary competing with the likes of Peacemaker in terms of fighting skills although he has lost to him once and almost twice. Depending of the location, he can take advantage of his environment to make his skills more efficient, like using branches or trees in a forest to better kick his foes.
- Master Acrobat: Judomaster is extremely agile making it difficult to have a hold on him during close encounters. He has enough stamina to move with only backflips on short distances. When fighting Peacemaker in the forest, he used a combination of acrobatic moves to make him more dangerous; like rapidly climbing a tree with just his feet.

- Expert Marksman: In addition to his fighting skills, Rip Jagger is proficient with firearms. When A.R.G.U.S. ambushed Peacemaker, he used a sniper rifle and attempted to incapacitate him with a tranquilizing dart.

- In the comics, Judomaster is a legacy name used by martial artist super-heroes. The first Judomaster's real name is Hadley "Rip" Jagger, and originated in Charlton Comics like Peacemaker. They worked together on the Living Assault Weapons team. The title of Judomaster was also held by his son Thomas "Tommy" Jagger and Sonia Sato.
