Kline was an agent of A.R.G.U.S., sent to infiltrate Peacemaker's house after an interdimensional anomaly was detected there. During an A.R.G.U.S. mission on Candyland, Kline was killed by several Imps.

Infiltration into Chris Smith's House[]

Kline, along with other agents, were sent by A.R.G.U.S. to infiltrate and investigate Chris Smith's house while he was in a party with the 11th Street Kids. That night, Kline watched with the team as Smith left the house, but Langston Fleury insisted that they wait to make sure Smith did not forget something and need to turn around before they infiltrated the house. Kline and the team then got out of the truck, and Fleury gave orders along with nicknames to each team member. Kline took issue with the nicknames, leading Fleury to change his nickname in a way he saw as a demotion twice.
Kline is knocked down by Eagly
The team formed a perimeter around the house as Kline let them in. When Vega was about to open the door to the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, Eagly attacked them. Kline attempted unsuccessfully to shoot at Eagly, getting attacked himself. Eagly eventually defeated the other agents, and Kline later helped Fleury to his feet, leading he to claim that a duck attacked him. Kline and Fleury jumped into action, getting the agents to the hospital.[1]
Attack on Chris Smith's House[]

Following the failed infiltration and recovery at the hospital, A.R.G.U.S. escalated the situation, planning a full-scale assault on the residence the next day. Upon John Economos' arrival, Bordeaux reprimanded him for not having warned them about Peacemaker's pet. Walking back to the van after leaving the hospital, Kline overheard Bordeaux explaining the situation to Economos.[3] On the way, Kline overheard Economos's conversation with Judomaster, which escalated to include Langston Fleury and Red St. Wild, prompting Bordeaux to silence them all. Kline claimed he hadn't said anything, but Bordeaux made him realize he had.

The A.R.G.U.S. patrol arrived at Chris Smith's House to arrest him and confiscate the interdimensional device. Bordeaux ordered Judomaster and Kline to enter from the rear. Upon finding the interdimensional door's lock, Sasha Bordeaux asked Kline to fetch Economos to hack it. However, while searching for Economos, Kline was surprised by the scar from Red St. Wild's attack, which he claimed was a third eye that enhanced his vision. Economos began obstructing the operation, making excuses for not having hacked the lock, interrupting with the statement that he had heard a cat crying, which angered everyone who pressured him to open the door immediately. When Economos finally hacked the lock, the agents discovered that behind the door was only a cabinet and that Smith had stolen the interdimensional device.[2]

Kline and the other agents escorted Rick Flag, Sr. out of Emilia Harcourt's Apartment, as Flag wanted to recruit her again to help capture Peacemaker. Since Flag didn't trust Economos, he ordered Vega and Kline to take his phone and monitor him. Flag insisted she accompany him, and Harcourt agreed, saying she would meet Smith at Kupperberg Park to distract him while they captured him.[2] Using Emilia Harcourt as a decoy, Kline infiltrated Kupperberg Park, sitting in a chair under the codename Aquamarine and indicating he was ready.

While Chris Smith was talking to Harcourt, Vega and Fleury were ordered to enter and warn him to put his hands on his head, but Smith fled and used Kline's arm for protection, causing the Judomaster to accidentally shoot his ally, who fell unconscious. Smith used Kline for cover while the other agents pointed their weapons at Smith, demanding he surrender, until Harcourt finally knocked Smith unconscious.[4]
Arrest of Peacemaker[]
Kline and the other agents assault the 11th Street Kids
Thanks to Sydney Happersen's logistical assistance, A.R.G.U.S. tracked down the interdimensional device at the Chase Residence in Evergreen. Kline and the other A.R.G.U.S. agents raided the house at night in search of the device, only to see the 11th Street Kids and Judomaster emerge, with Smith handing over the device. After Peacemaker stated that his friends traveled to the other dimension to convince him to hand over the device, and Judomaster confirmed it, they arrested him.[5]
Strip Club Visit[]

Kline and Langston Fleury went to a strip club together, and Kline became heavily intoxicated. He sat at the edge of a stage as a stripper came out who he was attracted to, although Fleury disagreed. Kline admired the stripper as she moved toward him and grabbed his face, placing it in her breasts. Kline leaned into it, but suddenly got an upset stomach and vomited on the stripper. Kline was embarrassed as Fleury was entertained by the incident. Kline came to the conclusion that he someone had drugged his drink to cause what happened.[6]

Following Peacemaker's arrest and the confiscation of the interdimensional device, A.R.G.U.S. partnered with LuthorCorp technicians to launch a campaign to find an uninhabited dimension capable of supporting Earth-like life. Agents, including Kline, were sent to investigate through the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, donning protective suits to explore the unknown conditions of different universes. While walking through the QUC, Kline asked what Flag wanted them to find, to which Langston Fleury replied that he didn't know. As they walked, Fleury brought up Kline's anecdote with the stripper, annoying Kline, who told him to be quiet. Fleury continued recounting the story. Kline informed him that everything was being recorded, which Fleury thought was brilliant, so anyone could entertain him, and he went on to talk about Kline's embarrassing moment.
Kline is mutilated by Imps
Kline asked Emilia Harcourt to shut him up, but she wanted to know the end of the story, so Fleury continued, with Harcourt regretting having heard the story, becoming angry that Fleury was telling it, and claiming that someone had drugged her drink. Finding and unlocking door 22, Kline opened it and accompanied Harcourt and Fleury into the Candyland dimension, noticing that the gravity was similar to Earth's. However, the agents were suddenly attacked by a horde of hungry imps, who cornered them and knocked Kline to the floor, where he screamed desperately for help. His colleagues in the hold pulled on the rope to rescue them, managing to pull them out by trampling the remaining imps; however, despite their efforts, the imps managed to break Kline's helmet, disfiguring and mutilating him, much to the horror of his friends.[6]

Upon returning, Angler explained Kline's murder to a bewildered Sasha Bordeaux. Emilia Harcourt and John Economos began to question the purposes behind the investigation, realizing that nothing A.R.G.U.S. had done had served the good of the people. Despite Kline's gruesome death, the agents continued their blind dive into unknown universes, with others also falling prey to them. After an extensive search, the agents found Salvation, which met their requirements.
When Rick Flag, Sr. revealed his intention to imprison the metahumans on the planet due to their dangerousness, so they could never return, Sasha Bordeaux realized they had been used, and made peace with the 11th Street Kids to start her own covert operations agency with Judomaster and Langston Fleury, outside of A.R.G.U.S.'s control.[6]

- Firearm: During the Infiltration into Chris Smith's House, Kline carried a weapon to break into the residence; however, like his teammates, he was taken down by Eagly despite their combined efforts to shoot him. In an attempt to capture Peacemaker, Kline and the other agents used weapons to try to assault him.
