Krypto the Superdog is the loyal pet Kryptonian dog companion of Clark Kent and Kara Zor-El.[1]

Evacuation of the S.T.A.R. Labs Facility[]
Krypto licks Superman
- "What do you think he's doing, Otto? My guess is he's fixing the dog run first, so there's someplace for the other dogs to go once he catches them."

Krypto accompanied his owner Superman to Earth's upper atmosphere to stop the entry of space debris that could generate potential catastrophes, until Kal-El threw a meteor at him to play fetch. Upon returning to Metropolis, Krypto was taken by Superman to Centennial Park to play with other dogs, reminding him to play with caution and responsibility, since they were not in space, once they landed, Krypto licked his owner to ask him to continue playing, but Superman showed him the other dogs to play with them. When Superman threw a stick for the dogs to play fetch, Krypto used his flying powers to win so Superman reminded his dog not to use his powers and give the other dogs a chance. Suddenly, an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs took place and a fire ambulance was about to crash into the park, with Superman slowing it down.
Krypto repairs the dog run
Seeing Krypto, Kal-El tried to call his dog for help, but Curt alerted him that the dogs had fled because of the ambulance. Superman asked Krypto to help him control the dogs while he tended to the fire at S.T.A.R. Labs and then assisted him there. Krypto then flew over the dog pen and used his superpowers to repair it so that the other dogs would have somewhere to go when he caught them, being watched closely by Curt and his dog Otto. As he flew over the park, Krypto found the dogs that had gotten lost and barked at them to guide them back to their owners, and spotted Rocky the dog perched on a tall rock, whom he grabbed and flew him back to his owner.
Krypto and Superman save the day
Arriving at the area of the fire at the S.T.A.R. Labs facility, Krypto assisted Superman who was about to rescue the two scientists trapped on the 14th floor, whom he picked up to carry them to the ground, while Krypto picked up Matty the dog to rescue her, and when the scientist worried about his puppy, Superman reassured him by showing him that his partner Krypto was carrying the dog. An hour after putting out the fire, Krypto and his owner Superman took the scientist and Matty to the park to hang out after a tiring afternoon.[5]

Krypto is shown to be an extremely loyal and affectionate dog, although also quite untamable. Despite being a Kryptonian canine, he behaves like a normal dog — at one point, he jumps on the injured Superman to play, unintentionally causing him pain. However, when he is ordered to take him home, Krypto promptly obeys, carrying the wounded Superman back to safety.

- Kryptonian-Canine Physiology: Being a native of Krypton, Krypto possesses all of the same physical powers of a Kryptonian under the effects of a yellow sun, albeit proportionate to his stature as a dog.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: Like Superman, Krypto possesses a dense-molecular structure, which in conjunction to a supercharged electromagnetic field, makes him virtually impervious to physical attack. He was also able to move across frozen tundra without feeling cold.
- Superhuman Strength: Krypto is immensely strong for a dog, capable of hauling an injured Superman by his cape while trotting along the frozen tundra.
- Superhuman Speed: Krypto is able to move across tundra with incredible speed
- Superhuman Senses: Krypto, like human dogs, possess better olfactory senses than that of humans, but his are more enhanced to superhuman levels. His hearing is able to detect Superman whistling from miles away.

- In the comics, Krypto the Superdog is Superman's pet, a Kryptonian creature with incredible powers and the appearance of a dog. He has been a member of Superman Family, the Legion of Super-Pets and the Space Canine Patrol Agents.
Behind the Scenes[]
- Krypto is inspired by James Gunn’s dog Ozu, who was adopted during Superman writing. Gunn initially didn’t plan for Krypto to be in the film, but after Ozu destroyed furniture and even his computer, Gunn imagined what it would be like if Ozu had superpowers, leading him to add Krypto to the script.[7] Krypto's appearance and barks were 3D modeled after Ozu, then rendered white.[2]
