The Kryptonians are a near-extinct technologically advanced species, native to the destroyed planet Krypton. The species was rendered critically endangered after almost all Kryptonians died when their main civilization center on Krypton exploded.
They are morphologically and anatomically nigh-identical to humans, except for the fact that they gain incredible abilities when exposed to the radiation of a yellow star; their cells can absorb and metabolize this particular energy and harness it to perform extraordinary feats.

Physiology[]
Visually, Kryptonians are indistinguishable from humans in outward appearances and can pass as humans. They evolved and adapted to survive in an atmosphere much harsher and gravity much stronger than Earth's. On their native planet, Kryptonians' natural abilities were virtually identical to humans as Krypton revolved around the ancient dim red star Rao. However, when living on smaller planets like Earth which orbits a younger yellow star and has considerably lower gravity, Kryptonians harness solar energy on the cellular level to achieve vast superhuman powers that make them appear godlike to humans, including tremendous strength, speed, durability, flight, and heightened senses, making them amongst the most powerful beings on Earth and surpassing most metahumans.
Despite their physical powers however, Kryptonians do have several specific weaknesses, which include the radioactive remains of their homeworld called Kryptonite, which can kill them after prolonged exposure to its radiation or can be crafted into weapons to be used against them. They can also be rendered powerless under the effects of a red sun and possesses no natural defense against magic. While they can store solar energy for moments when they are not in direct sunlight however, they do need to recharge regularly. Should they encounter a being that is able to match or surpass their own physical strength and resilience however, Kryptonians do have the potential to be killed. While not a weakness physically, Kryptonians are incapable of seeing through lead, which can be used to ironically protect them from Kryptonite.
