- "I didn't create the problems in my world, missy. I don't agree with them. I applaud you if your world is perfect and you fight every injustice you ever see. Is that what you do? Unfortunately, I haven't got the strength for that. I fight the madman murderers and monsters in front of me because that's all I can control. And at the end of my life, when I stand in judgement before God, I hope he knows that I did the best that I could, and I left this world at a better place that when I came--"
- ―Auggie Smith to Emilia Harcourt
Like a Keith in the Night is the seventh episode of the second season of Peacemaker. The episode was written by James Gunn, and released on HBO Max on October 2, 2025.
Synopsis[]
As Flag and A.R.G.U.S. close in, the 11th Street Kids attempt to keep the ever-increasing dangers of the alternate world around them at bay.
Plot[]
Emilia Harcourt shows Chris Smith the mural of Adolf Hitler
On Earth-2, A.R.G.U.S. apprehends Chris Smith and Emilia Harcourt from Earth-1 after discovering they are impersonating their local counterparts. Before their arrest, Smith had broken up with Agent Harcourt and assumed the identity of this world's Peacemaker, unaware that the Nazi Party held global authority and public admiration — a truth Harcourt quickly recognized. The pair subsequently make their escape.
John Economos is detained by Auggie Smith
Meanwhile, Adrian Chase's Earth-2 doppelgänger reveals that the Nazis won the Second World War in this reality. Now a member of the Sons of Liberty, he fights against the oppressive regime ruling the planet. Concerned for Leota Adebayo, both Chases suit up as Vigilante and set out to rescue her. Fleeing an enraged white mob, Adebayo is saved by Judomaster, while Auggie Smith summons Keith Smith back to the Smith Residence, where John Economos remains tied up. At the same time, Chris and Harcourt grow closer to each other as they escape on the Peace-Cycle, pursued by the Evergreen Police Department.
Leota Adebayo and Judomaster play Scrobble.
Explaining to Keith the context given to him by Economos, likening it to the time he met his Earth-1 counterpart in the Quantum Unfolding Chamber once, Auggie realizes that Chris may expose the existence of the QUC to the public. Determined to prevent this, he and Keith head out as Blue Dragon and Captain Triumph to stop him. Economos pleads with Eagly to untie him while Judomaster shelters Adebayo in an abandoned home, choosing to wait until nightfall before returning to the Smith Residence, where the QUC is stored.
Rick Flag, Sr. enlists the help of Sydney Happersen
Elsewhere, Rick Flag, Sr. and Sasha Bordeaux of A.R.G.U.S. meet with Sydney Happersen, a man whom the detained Lex Luthor described as loyal to his every command. They assign Happersen to the LuthorCorp Tower communications hub, once used during the Battle of Metropolis. Scanning Evergreen, Washington, he detects an active dimensional rift from Chris' QUC, prompting Flag, Sr. to order an immediate deployment toward the Chase Residence. Happersen warns a remaining A.R.G.U.S. agent as he prepares to watch porn on the scanning device.
That night, Adebayo and Judomaster discuss the latter's strained relationship with her wife, Keeya. Naming Keeya in the wrong for dissaproving of her security firm dreams, Judomaster suggets to Adebayo that she ought to consider how she suppressed Keeya's aspiration to open a pet store with her. When Adebayo shifts the topic to Chris and his decision to move to Earth-2, she describes him as a "sweet guy" despite his many flaws, though Judomaster insists it's time to refocus on their mission.
Chris Smith and Emilia Harcourt are apprehended by Blue Dragon and Captain Triumph
After confronting the police and the runaway duo, Auggie and Keith gather Chris and Harcourt with Economos. Auggie demands answers, and Chris confesses that he discovered the doorway to Earth-2 by accident, accidentally killed his local counterpart, and stayed — fascinated by the world's similarities and contrasts. While Keith seethes with anger over his brother's death, Auggie believes Chris' remorse. Before Auggie can interrogate Harcourt further, detective Larry Fitzgibbon arrives, inquiring about recent officer deaths and Peacemaker's whereabouts. Auggie denies knowledge and shuts the door.
Vigilante watches as Vigilante reunites with Judomaster
Outside, Adebayo, Judomaster, and the two Vigilantes observe the mansion. Adebayo vetoes their plans to kill the cops and storm the house, suggesting they sneak in instead. Inside, Auggie instructs Chris and his group to leave once everyone has gathered, but Keith refuses, demanding retribution for his brother. Auggie warns that revenge will not bring him back. Harcourt, sensing Auggie's decency, surprising for a Nazi she assumes. But Auggie replies that the heroic actions he carries out in a Nazi-run world does not align with its ideologies. Before he can elaborate, Vigilante bursts in and kills him on sight.
A perplexed Chris Smith watches Captain Triumph's near-death
Chaos erupts as the 11th Street Kids try and flee the mansion. Chris hesitates, shaken by how different this version of his father truly was. As Evergreen's police force storms in, Keith intercepts Chris, demanding a fight. Beaten and bleeding, Chris tells everyone to unhand Keith. Chris embraces him and recalls killing his own brother, breaking down. Blaming himself for the mess, Chris laments that death and misery follow everyone he loves. Harcourt tries but fails to finish Keith before retreating with Judomaster and the others toward the QUC.
The 11th Street Kids are confronted by A.R.G.U.S.
Keith is hospitalized after the skirmish, while the 11th Street Kids successfully return to Earth-1, exiting through the Chase Residence. They are met by A.R.G.U.S., where Chris surrenders the Quantum Unfolding Chamber Access Device, falsely claiming that Judomaster and his team came only to retrieve him and persuade him to give up. A.R.G.U.S. accepts the story and finally takes Peacemaker into custody.
