Paul De Vries was a Dutch explorer and the founder of Metropolis, then known as De Vries Village.
Biography[]
In 1634, Paul De Vries went on an expedition to the land that would be called Delaware and set up De Vries Village. The village later went on to be known as the "Old City" within Metropolis, and De Vries was credited as the city's founder. He was included on informational history signs about the city's history, describing De Vries Village as the first settlement in Metropolis.[1]
