"All together, they're an unstoppable force we call PlanetWatch. More than capable of containing any otherworldly threat."
Lex Luthor[src]

PlanetWatch was a corporate special unit founded by Lex Luthor to act as a planetary defense force against extraterrestrial threats and serve as a replacement for Superman following his attempted assassination.

History[]

With the idea of combating Superman, Lex Luthor began to conceptualize the "PlanetWatch" as an unstoppable task force under LuthorCorp composed of Raptors. Luthor recruited former special agent Angela Spica to his group, who had the will to sacrifice her own humanity to bring it down from within, so they infused her with nanites into her blood, which allowed her body to transform according to her imagination, nicknamed her the Engineer.

While exploring Superman's old battle sites, Luthor acquired a lock of the Kryptnian's hair, using it to create a clone he named "Ultraman", and despite possessing an exceptionally low IQ, Ultraman proved to be powerful. Luthor studied Superman's combat patterns and equipped Ultraman's mask with a camera that transmitted live images of Superman, allowing Ultraman to counter his every move by following pre-programmed commands given by Luthor's monitoring equipment.

Luthor met with the United States Department of Defense at the Pentagon to introduce PlanetWatch and its members, urging the possibility of hiring them to confront Superman due to the hero's actions in Boravia, arguing that PlanetWatch should be authorized to interrogate Superman. However, Secretary of Defense General Stephen Mori rejected the proposal, stating that there was no conclusive evidence of malicious intent by the Kryptonian. Following Lex Luthor's arrest at Belle Reve Correctional Center, PlanetWatch was disbanded.[1]
