In 2022, Metallo launched an attack at Planet Square in an attempt at luring out Superman. As he started his attack, civilians quickly began fleeing the scene, and the Justice Gang promptly arrived and began trying to stop Metallo. The staff at the Daily Planet noticed the commotion, and Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen rushed out of the building to witness the fight. The Justice Gang continued to fight Metallo, but struggled due to Metallo's new upgrades.
Superman arrived on the scene, and Metallo ripped a giant steel sculpture of Earth from its base and tossed it at Superman. Superman caught it and set it down gently on the ground. Guy Gardner attacked Metallo again, but Metallo insisted his fight was with Superman, not the Justice Gang, and knocked him away. Wanting to prevent damage to the surrounding area, Superman called out to Metallo to follow him as he lured him away from Planet Square. The members of the Justice Gang followed behind.
Superman and the Justice Gang managed to defeat Metallo, and Superman returned to Planet Square, where civilians had started filling back in and city workers began cleaning up the mess from the fight. Olsen asked Superman what happened with Metallo, to which he replied Metallo was taken care of. Superman posed for pictures from Olsen, and then was approached by Lane, whom he offered to do an interview with.[2]
