The Quantum Unfolding Chamber Access Device is a device that creates a portal to the Quantum Unfolding Chamber.

History[]

Found by the Smiths[]

"Moved it twice. Once when we found it in the woods to my dad's trailer. I think my dad was afraid it was dangerous, so he had me and Keith do it."

In 1990, Auggie Smith and his sons Chris and Keith were out hunting in Settlers' Hills. Auggie shot a creature they then realized was an alien. The alien possessed the access device to the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, which the Smiths took and began to use for themselves.

Auggie had his sons use the device to move to the portal to his trailer, fearing the device may be dangerous. After moving into his house, he once again had Chris move the portal.^[1]

Fleeing from A.R.G.U.S.[]

"What did you mean you have to move the portal?"
"I mean I gotta transfer the door from my dad's house to where we're going, if we make it in time."

In June 2025, Chris Smith received a text from John Economos, learning that A.R.G.U.S. was on their way to his house, seeking him and his interdimensional portal. Smith dug the access device out of a box in his closet, and fled his house with it. As he ran through the woods near his house, he was attacked by Judomaster, dropping the access device. Smith scrambled to grab the device as he continued to fight his assailant. He eventually knocked Judomaster out, grabbed the access device and was picked up by Leota Adebayo. She drove Smith to Settlers' Hills while he explained the origins of the access device and how he needed to move the portal.

Smith and Adebayo arrived at Smith's grandfather's cabin in Settlers' Hills, and Smith was able to use the access device to move the portal to the cabin before the A.R.G.U.S. agents discovered the portal in his home.^[1]

Rescuing Peacemaker[]

"Well we can't use it here, A.R.G.U.S. will find it."
"Use it? Why are we going to use it?"
"Because we're gonna get Chris back."

Intending to stay on Earth-2 permanently, Chris Smith used the access device to close the portal to the Quantum Unfolding Chamber behind him. He left a note on the access device for Leota Adebayo. Adebayo and Adrian Chase arrived at the cabin just as the portal closed, taking the note and the access device and leaving to Adebayo's motel, where they met with Emilia Harcourt and John Economos. They read the note left on the access device, learning that Smith left the access device for Adebayo, Harcourt, and Economos to turn in to A.R.G.U.S. to potentially get back into the good graces of the agency. However, Harcourt decided instead that they would use the access device to follow Smith and bring him home.^[2]

The 11th Street Kids took the access device to Chase's house. Adebayo used the access device to open up the portal in Chase's basement.^[3]

The 11th Street Kids were successful in retrieving Chris Smith and returned through the portal back to Adrian Chase's home. Smith used the access device to close the portal and the team left the house with the access device. Outside, they were confronted by A.R.G.U.S. Smith tossed the access device to Rick Flag, Sr., telling him that it was the interdimensional device he was searching for, and that his friends had went to get him to convince him to surrender the access device.^[4]
