- In the comics, Ronald "Ron" Troupe was initially not hired by the Daily Planet and therefore worked for a competing newspaper until Clark Kent went missing, allowing Troupe to take over. He covered several events involving Superman and got six degrees, allowing him to become a political analyst for the Daily Planet.
