Sgt. Rock is an upcoming superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name.
Plot[]
Franklin Rock and the Easy Company depart on a mission to retrieve the Spear of Destiny, the spear used to crucify Jesus Christ, before it can fall into the hands of the Nazis, who believe it possesses magical abilities.

On November 20, 2024, Deadline reported that a film based on Sgt. Rock was revealed to be in development at DC Studios. The script would have been written by Justin Kuritzkes and directed by Luca Guadagnino, with Daniel Craig being looked at to star as Franklin Rock. The three previously worked together on Queer.[3]
On February 19, 2025, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Daniel Craig had dropped out of the film.[4]
On March 17, 2025, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Colin Farrell was in talks to replace Daniel Craig as the star.[5]
On April 30, 2025, it was reported that the project had originally intended to begin shooting in summer 2025. However, the film had halted production and would instead begin filming in summer 2026.[1]
On June 19, 2025, James Gunn reiterated that the film was still moving forward.[6]
On July 18, 2025, James Gunn revealed that Luca Guadagnino was no longer involved with the project.[7]
