- ―Amanda Waller to Rick Flag, Sr.[src]
World War II, or the Second World War (often abbreviated as WWII or WW2), was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It involved a vast majority of the world's nations, including all the major powers. Several advanced weapons were developed during the war, and the Nazi Party conquered many countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Background[]
Outbreak of War[]
In a context of economic and social crisis, the Nazi Party gained popularity in Germany. The Nazis began to militarize, signing an alliance with Japan, and they started World War II in an attempt to conquer Europe.[1]
History[]
US Involvement[]

Eric Frankenstein fights against the Bride of Frankenstein on the Western Front
By 1941, Eric Frankenstein had joined the Wehrmacht, and fought against the Bride of Frankenstein on the battlefield of the Western Front.[2] The United States Armed Forces deployed various units to fight Nazi Germany in the occupied European countries, including Easy Company, led by Sgt. Rock.[1]

To fight the Nazis, top American scientists built an advanced and innovative war machine called G.I. Robot, designed to assist the United States Army. It was released in 1943, hailed as a remarkable technological achievement, and assigned to Easy Company under Sergeant Franklin Rock.

On his first operation with the team, G.I. Robot accompanied the unit one night as they cautiously advanced through a dark jungle. Soldier Little Sure Shot, located on a neighboring hill, alerted Rock about Nazi soldiers silently surrounding them, and aware of the danger, Rock ordered an immediate retreat, while the Company bravely defended itself from the attack. In the midst of battle, G.I. Robot activated his stilts and opened fire on the Nazis, executing them all and astonishing his fellow soldiers. The Company later celebrated their victory at a bar, where G.I. Robot was delighted to see the entire team cheering him on.[1]
Following Battles[]
- "In June 1944, 38 dead Nazis. In September of 1944, I fought at the Battle of Hüertgen Forest. A whopping 92 dead Nazis. In October of 1944, at the Battle of Aachen, I ended the lives of 14 Nazis."
- ―G.I. Robot[src]
More than a thousand nazis were killed by G.I. Robot during his service in Easy Company.[1] In one engagement in June 1944, he killed 38 Nazis; in the Battle of Hüertgen Forest in September he killed 92 nazis; and in the Battle of Aachen in October he killed 14.[3]
End of the War[]

Japan surrendered, and by that time, G.I. Robot was standing next to the couple who took the V-J Day in Times Square photograph. The war later officially ended as the Nazi Party were defeated.[1]
Aftermath[]

G.I. Robot appears on television
- "It bounced around from lab to lab, from the 60's to the 90's. They studied it, and got what they could from it. I guess Uncle Sam forgot it existed after a while. So, for the last 10 years, it's been in the hands of collectors like you."
- ―Justin to Sam Fitzgibbon[src]
Following the war, G.I. Robot was honorably decorated for his service and entrusted to the care of the United States government, parting ways with his friends in Easy Company. In the 1960s, G.I. Robot was taken on a television publicity tour to promote American troops in the war, where scientist Will Magnus was astonished by the automaton's paranoid behavior, so the military gave G.I. Robot to Magnus to experiment on as they had no use for it after the war. Magnus studied G.I. to create the next generation of automates, making improvements to his system before eventually abandoning him.

G.I. Robot kills the Hub City National Socialists Club
From the ashes of the Third Reich, fringe neo-Nazi groups began to reemerge seeking to revive and promote the extremist ideas, including the Hub City National Socialists Club, which included Sam Fitzgibbon, a collector of wartime memorabilia. By the 2000s, Fitzgibbon visited a shop to buy G.I. Robot, with whom he formed a friendship. However, after G.I. Robot was taken by Fitzgibbon to a club meeting, he turned against him after realizing he was a Nazi, massacring everyone in the club, which led to his imprisonment in Belle Reve Correctional Center.[1]
By 2023, G.I. Robot joined a task force named the Creature Commandos on a mission in Pokolistan, under Amanda Waller's promise that he would have to kill Nazis.[3] During the Battle at Poko Castle, Rick Flag, Sr. convinced G.I. that the Sons of Themyscira were Nazis in order to kill them.[1]
